Story
As some of you may know, our little boy was born with one functioning kidney. We knew there was an issue antenatally discovered at our 20 week scan, which resulted in a number of regular scans at fetal medicine at QEUH, where he was also born, due to the need for various specialists to care for him on arrival.
Thankfully he is a happy and healthy little boy! You only need one kidney to lead a normal life, however he continues to be monitored by the amazing team at Crosshouse to make sure that all remains well.
As a family, we want to give back to the incredible Crosshouse Children’s Fund. We will be forever grateful to both the teams at Ayrshire Maternity Unit and QEUH Fetal Medicine who looked after us during the most stressful and worrying time of our lives, as well as the renal clinic team at Crosshouse who continue to look after our little boy so well.
Crosshouse Children's Fund is the charity for babies, children and young people in hospital in Ayrshire and Arran.
Each year more than 25,000 babies, children and young people are treated at University Hospital Crosshouse, and the Ayrshire Maternity and Neonatal Units.
With the help of communities across Ayrshire and Arran, Crosshouse Children's Fund raises vital funds to help these children and their families.
The charity provides pioneering medical equipment and research, helps families navigate the pressures of a hospital stay, and supports the mental health of children by enabling them to play in hospital.
None of this would be possible without generous donations and fundraising.
Thank you so much,
The Cohen family x
