Story
I was diagnosed with womb cancer in February 2024. I had a hysterectomy and then received a Stage IIIA diagnosis. From before my hysterectomy, through my ovaries being removed, to having pelvic radiotherapy with chemotherapy, to losing my hair with further chemotherapy, The Eve Appeal were on the end of a phone to me. Their nurses, Helen and Tracie, held my hand throughout. Not only do they have medical experience, but unfortunately also personal experience of all of the treatments that I underwent. Talking to someone who truly understands, and armed with the right medical knowledge, is so incredibly important. Helen has been such a shining light that I can't think of her without welling up. I don't know how I would have got through this without The Eve Appeal.
I finished chemotherapy in February 2025, and fortunately have recovered physically enough to carry on cycling and to start going to the gym. But I'm no runner. However, I will be running the Oxford half marathon in October 2026 to raise vital funds for this incredible charity. (Don't worry, I can already walk 13 miles with no preparation. Now I just need to get a bit faster.)
