Story
Lots of our family and friends know that in 2020, our son Dylan was affected at birth by HIE (Grade 3) and has subsequent severe disabilities. His life is tough - and it's made a little less tough by the support we've had over the years from Peeps HIE. Peeps are the only UK charity dedicated to supporting families touched by HIE.
HIE stands for Hypoxic-Ischaemic Encephalopathy and is a lack of oxygen and blood flow to the brain, most often happening around child birth - which is what happened to Dylan.
Peeps provide counselling, wellbeing and mental health support, bereavement support, funding for essential equipment, information and signposting, peer support, online wellbeing and information sessions. We've been fortunate enough to have support over the years with therapy for us and the children, as well as the opportunities to have accessible family adventures, and get financial support with essential equipment. Life would be a LOT harder without them. This is why Tom and I are walking 8 walks of 8km over the next couple of months, to try and help them raise loads of money for their 8th birthday! Please support if you can. Every little bit helps families like ours.
