Story
In 1996, our beloved Bernie passed away suddenly from an ischemic heart attack. He was just 50 years old.
Bernie was a devoted husband to Patricia, a loving father to Claire and Matt, and a warm, funny, unforgettable presence in the lives of everyone who knew him. He never got the chance to meet his grandchildren — Ashley, Harlan, and Fletcher — but we know he would have adored them. As his daughter-in-law, I’m proud to help carry his memory forward.
To mark 30 years since we lost him, we’re organising a special event:
“The Heart of the Game” – Bernie’s Big Bash 30! A Charity Cricket Tournament and Family Fun Day, taking place at Himley Cricket Club on Sunday, August Bank Holiday Weekend 2026.
Cricket was one of Bernie’s true passions. He was a children’s cricket coach and a huge supporter of the game. So this event, full of cricket, fun, and community spirit, feels like the perfect tribute to a man who gave so much to others.

💖 Why We’re Raising Money
We’re raising funds for the British Heart Foundation, a charity dedicated to preventing heart disease and saving lives. If we can help just one family avoid the heartache we experienced, it’s worth every effort.
