Story
Thanks for supporting our fundraising.
My Mother-in-law was diagnosed with lung cancer for the first time in 2015 and after an operation and a round of chemotherapy it went away. Then in 2019 we were told the cancer had returned but she also had 2 tumours on her neck as well. She underwent chemotherapy again and endured endless sessions of it. In January 2023 she was taken into hospital feeling very unwell and it was then that they advised us that the cancer had spread to her spine. Just 96 days later she passed away peacefully at home with her family around her.
Macmillan were amazing and helped us so much that we want to do as much as possible as we can. In July 2023 Sara took part in brave the shave and we have also been holding quiz nights in our local area.
Our target to reach for Macmillan is £10,000. Currently we have raised £4,122.82.
During the First Light Festival on Saturday 22nd June (11am) - Sunday 23rd June 2024 (11am) I will be playing bowls continuously for 24 hours at Kensington Gardens Bowling Green in Lowestoft, against 24 different players. There are 24 one hour long slots in which people are playing against me for a minimum donation of £10.
Macmillan gives support to not only those who are suffering with cancer but also to their loved ones. . If you’re diagnosed, your worries are Macmillan’s worries. Macmillan do whatever it takes to support those that are suffering alongside their families and loved ones, which we have experienced first hand.. But without your help, it wouldn't be possible for Macmillan to support everyone who needs them.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe, JustGiving - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs.
With your help, together we can make a massive difference for those that are suffering.
Many thanks an advance, the Hides family.
