THE HODGE 100

Ian Covey is raising money for Kids' Village

The HODGE 100 · 21 June 2026

Kids' Village is building the UK's first respite holiday village just for children with critical illnesses and their families. A place where they can be themselves again and spend time with those closest to them for a well deserved respite break away from hospitals and the trauma of having a critical illness.

Story

Oh, things you might live to regret.

It's over a decade since I rode anywhere near 100 miles but this midsummer I'm riding THE HODGE 100.

Th'Cat's Whiskers

THE HODGE 100 is like an old-school, hundred-mile reliability trial from my youth.

Just me, my bike and the road.

Setting out from Lichfield, THE HODGE rolls through the Staffordshire countryside and climbs into the Peaks over the Cat & Fiddle.

Winding its way back to Lichfield 100 miles & 6,100ft of climbing later.

This is going to be genuinely hard.

100 miles is a long way.

I don't like going that far in the car.

There's a real chance I won't make it.

But I'm going to try.

I am.

Magical Stays Like No Other

THE HODGE 100 is in aid of Kids' Village.

They're building the UK’s first respite holiday village just for children with critical illness.

Set in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside, just up the road from where I live in Lichfield, it will be a place for imagination, enjoying nature together and feeling free from daily challenges of battling a serious illness.

A place where kids with serious illnesses can be just "kids".

I'm fundraising to help make these magical stays like no other, a reality.
