The Hub (Q1 Foundation) helps people in the Goring Gap, including the most vulnerable, take an active role in their communities, by providing support, assistance, social interaction and guidance; preventing hardship and isolation, growing community connections and improving wellbeing for all.

Story

On Saturday 20th April we have another terrific team skydiving to raise money for the Hub – Bridging the Gap:

BETSY BROWN, AVA LUNT, SOPHIA KAVONGO and SARAH CONDE - jumping on behalf of the Village Cafe in Goring Arcade - and RACHEL DUNN, who is one of their many happy customers.

ED CRANE - jumping on behalf of ITM Audio Visual, a local company experienced in delivering events in London, the Thames Valley and Europe.

JACKIE HAMSTEAD and SEAN CUNNINGHAM - jumping for his mum, Elizabeth Ann Cunningham, for the prevention of dementia.

LILIIA LUTSAK and SEBASTIAN AVERY - jumping on behalf of the Goring Grocer in the High Street (where she's working having relocated from Ukraine due to the ongoing war) and Goring Fire Station (part of Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service) on Icknield Road, respectively.

BLAIR SHARMAN - jumping on behalf of Nikki Sharman's "Barbara’s Bric a Brac" in Station Road, Goring and all the George Michael lovelies and Vodafone in Newbury.

MILLER SHERWOOD and MAX CAMERON

GARY SMITH with CHILDREN: HOLLIE and SAM - jumping on behalf of the Goring Village Butchers

Thank you so much to each and every one of you for generously sponsoring these brave skydivers and supporting the Hub. We are a small, independent local charity, which provides information and support, activities and companionship to adults in the Goring Gap area - from foodbank parcels and hardship support, helping with benefit applications or signposting to local services, to running activities and helping forge friendships. The Hub is at the heart of our community - but is totally reliant on donations and grants to keep going. Times are tough for people and getting tougher, so the Hub needs to be able to support people more than ever at this critical time. However, it's a hard time for charities too - so we're contributing by facing our fears and taking on another tandem skydive! We are really grateful for any donations, however, large or small; every little bit counts in helping us reach our target. Many thanks again!

If you also fancy the thrill of your life, it's not too late to sign up to skydive by contacting Stuart Rowsell on 01189 794312 or stuartrowsell@ymail.com - 87 years young and he already jumped twice last year and raised many thousands! Some are terrified of heights and/or planes, some have physical challenges, whilst others just want to tick this adventure off their bucket list.

UPDATE - Congratulations to all our Hub Heroes who successfully skydived in 2023 on 15 April, and on 23 and 30 September! You raised almost £15,000 - a thousand thanks!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe and JustGiving will never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the Hub. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting our costs.
