Story
In September 2012 our daughter, Katie, was diagnosed with a rare form of Childhood cancer called osteosarcoma, which is a primary bone cancer.
Sadly, on 5th April 2014 Katie lost her battle, aged just 16.
Prior to Katies death she wanted to raise money to support young lives and their families; this is The Katie Thorburn Foundation - https://www.justgiving.com/team/thekatiethorburnfoundation
Katies aim was to raise £100,000 for the Foundation. April 2024 will mark the 10-year anniversary of Katies death, and we are trying hard to make that £100,000 vision a reality through a number of fundraising initiatives.
On Sunday 21st April we will be hosting a Golf and Family Fun day to be held at Heaton Moor Golf Club in Stockport, fundraising for the Katie Thorburn Foundation supporting Young Lives Vs Cancer. Format will be 4 ball stableford, best 2 to score, shotgun start at 09:30. The intent is to make it fun golf so there will be some surprises on some of the holes. Not a serious competition, but to have fun and fundraise.
In addition we will having a raffle, auction, events in the afternoon and live entertainment which will be open to non golfers and family.
