The Longest Day - 100km For Dorset Cancer Care Foundation

Jack Miller is raising money for Dorset Cancer Care Foundation

Running 100km from Lyndhurst to Poole Park · 21 June 2025

The Dorset Cancer Care Foundation was established to provide financial support and aid to Dorset residents and their families who are affected by cancer.

Story

On the 21st of June - the longest day of the year - I’ll be taking on my longest ever run.

Starting in Lyndhurst and finishing in Poole Park, I’ll be aiming to cover 100km in a single day to raise money for a cause incredibly close to my heart: Dorset Cancer Care Foundation (DCCF).

To put it into perspective, the furthest I’ve ever run is 27km - so this is well beyond my comfort zone. But that’s exactly why I’m doing it. Because people facing cancer push themselves through far harder challenges every day.

And even more on a personal level my dad has been diagnosed with Cancer for a second time, and sadly this time it’s incurable and will never go away. With this in mind it felt like the least I could do while he is dealing with the process.

DCCF was founded by three incredible women - Eve Went, Leslie May Harrison, and Pam Jeffries - who, after experiencing cancer themselves, saw how many local families struggle financially during treatment. The charity provides direct financial support to people in Dorset living with cancer, helping them cover essential costs during the toughest times.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps support someone who truly needs it.

Thanks so much for reading - and wish me luck… it’s going to be a long one.
