Atlantic to Pacific - The Long Ride East

Joshua Moodie is raising money for The Pickwell Foundation

Atlantic to Pacific, The Long Ride East · 14 September 2026

We are a charity working to promote and provide community led welcome for displaced people. Our aim is to provide the type of friendship and practical support that anyone would hope to have if they were forced, under such circumstances, to start over in a new and unfamiliar place.

Story

***Please Note** * All donations are collected by The Pickwell foundation, who will collect and split all donations equally between the chosen charities at the end of the cycle.

On the 14th September 2026, I will be attempting to become the first person to cycle solo from Land’s End to the eastern Pacific coast of Russia, travelling entirely unsupported over the course of a year.

The route will take me through Europe, Turkey, Central Asia, and Mongolia, covering around 25,00km (15,000 miles).

I could have quite happily carried out this cycle purely for the sake of an adventure, with minimal online attention and little thought for a plan. But in a strange way that felt like a selfish attitude, and instead I’ve decided I am going to try to make a lasting difference for people who can barely even dream about the opportunity that lays before me.

After years of thinking, planning and dreaming of what I could do to make the best possible impact, I have decided to partner with and support smaller charities that are located along my route. This is due to having lived experience of small charities doing incredible work for their communities with very little funding and often little recognition.

Partnering with NGOs that have a focus on topics close to my heart, such as environmental conservation, refugee support and poverty alleviation.

To help spread awareness and raise money, the whole journey will be filmed and shared online with a mixture of short format videos shared throughout the trip and a long format documentary to be released once I am back home. The aim is to produce a documentary of hope, sharing the incredible work these smaller NGOs and charities are doing across the world.

Please take a moment to have a look at the charities I have chosen to support and partner with, and any donations would be greatly appreciated.
