Story
At just 5 days old, our little one was taken into Alder Hey with suspected seizures. He was quickly given the right medicine as a precaution, even when the diagnosis was still unknown. Bacterial Meningitis is an aggressive, life-threatening infection that attacked his brain. Not only did Alder Hey save his life, but the aftercare provided to our entire family was something we can never thank them enough for.
When he’s older, we’ll share stories of the doctors, nurses, infectious disease consultants, and neurologists who supported us during his treatment. We will also remember the canteen staff, the cleaners, and the students who made the worst month of our lives slightly more manageable with their energy and love.
There’s nothing I can do that will ever repay what they did for us, but running 13.1 miles around the city that saved him is a start. On March 15th, 2026, I will participate in the Liverpool Half Marathon to raise £2,000 for Alder Hey Children’s Charity. I invite you to join me in supporting this incredible cause that provides hope and healing to families like ours.
