Story
What started as a bit of banter between three BACTA members has quickly turned into something much bigger…
In September 2026, we’re taking on The Rat Run – a 1,300-mile road trip from Dover to Benidorm in just 4 days… with one small catch:
👉 The car must cost less than £600.
👉 No luxury, no guarantees… just hope, determination, and a sense of humour.
👉 And the big question… what could possibly go wrong?
Originally, this was all about the challenge, the laughs, and seeing if we could actually make it to Spain without breaking down somewhere in rural France. But we realised—if we’re going to do something this ridiculous, we might as well do some good along the way.
So we’ve decided to raise money for the BACTA Charitable Trust, supporting fantastic causes connected to our industry and communities.
We’re a team made up of:
- Kevin Birch
- David Parris
- Nigel Botelho
- And our good friend Brent Millman (chief morale officer and official encourager!)
You can expect questionable car choices, dodgy roadside repairs, plenty of laughs, and hopefully… a finish line in Benidorm.
Every donation, big or small, will help make a real difference—and keep us motivated when the car inevitably starts making “that noise.”
If you fancy being part of the journey, get involved, follow our progress, and help us turn this mad idea into something genuinely worthwhile.
Thank you for your support… we’re definitely going to need it!
