At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thank you so much for your time, in visiting my JustGiving page.

My dear, kind and compassionate brother, Michael, has been bravely battling Alzheimer's disease in recent years. It is becoming harder for him to remember a lot nowadays.

He has a dear wife, Julie; five lovely children: Lucy, Amy, John, Paul, Jodie and five great - grandchildren: Olivia, Emelia, Izzy, Fred and Elly.

I am one of Michael’s sisters, Theresa. He has 7 other sisters: Angela; Maggie, Mary, Bud; Imelda; Carmel, Catherine and one brother, Johnny. Our dear mum talked fondly of her “beloved son” : our parent's first born child.

As a Chartered Civil engineer; he dedicated himself to his career, his family and his Church community. Organising Christmas parties for family and friends became his hallmark and we all celebrated in style.

Highly educated; selfless, with a deep Catholic faith - Michael has run over 25 London Marathons over the years; always for charities. Many were for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, which our dear dad had.

I will be walking the 'Manchester Memory Walk' for my brother Michael on the 13th of October this year.

With almost 1 million people living with this devastating condition, we must make dementia the priority it needs to be. This is the UK’s forgotten crisis. By taking part and raising money, or donating to someone who is, you are helping to do this. I will be fundraising for Michael.

Michael stands proudly, the eldest of us all - our dear brother.
