The Rugby Run

We are My Name'5 Doddie Foundation and we're absolutely committed to our goal: A World Free of MND. We will leave no stone unturned in the relentless pursuit of this goal as we fund, guide and enable the smartest, most efficient MND research to catalyse a cure for motor neuron disease.

Story

I’ve set myself a challenge that brings together my love of rugby and the opportunity to support a cause that means so much to the rugby community.

As a lifelong Northampton Saints fan, this season I’m taking on The Rugby Run in support of the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.

The challenge sounds simple:

For every try Northampton Saints score in the Premiership this season, I’ll add 1 kilometre to my run.

But the kilometres accumulate — they don’t reset.

After every Premiership round, I’ll run the Saints’ total number of tries scored that season. With Saints scoring more than 100 tries last season, this could eventually take me well beyond marathon distance and into ultramarathon territory.

I’m aiming to raise £1,000 for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, established by Scottish rugby legend Doddie Weir following his diagnosis with motor neuron disease (MND). The Foundation funds vital research and is committed to finding effective treatments and ultimately a cure for MND.

Rugby has an incredible ability to bring people together, regardless of club, country or rivalry. The rugby community’s response to MND demonstrate that better than almost anything.

If you can, please donate. If you can’t, sharing the challenge can make a difference too.

Every try. Every kilometre. One step closer to a world free of MND.

Come on you Saints. 🖤💚💛
