“The Shear Ride,” is taking place on 8th–9th August 2026.

Jamie will be shearing sheep in 2 hour runs for a total 24 hours of shearing— but with a twist: all the power for the shearing equipment will be generated by bikes! Sam will be riding one of the bikes for the entire 24 hours, supported in shifts by friends and family on a second bike to keep the power flowing.

Jamie’s Story

Just one day after my daughter was born, she became critically ill and was rushed to Birmingham Children’s Hospital. There, she received emergency surgery that saved her life.

Those first few days were some of the hardest we’ve ever faced. But thanks to the incredible care, skill, and compassion of the doctors and nurses, she pulled through. After four further operations and countless hospital visits, she continues to receive the best possible care and support.

We will forever be grateful to the hospital that quite literally saved her life.

Sam’s Story

Sam’s story about his daughter, Nancy and her time in Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Nancy’s journey to Birmingham Children’s Hospital started in July 2024, at 15 months old, when she could not weight bare on her right leg and was in a lot of pain. After staying overnight on the Children’s ward in Hereford Hospital, she was transferred to Birmingham Children’s Hospital where she was operated on the following morning, as an emergency. Nancy was diagnosed with Septic Arthritis in her right knee, something we did not know much about. The cause of this is still unknown.

Nancy had a 9 night stay in Birmingham, having exceptional care from all the specialists, doctors and nurses where she received intravenous antibiotics around the clock. Her stay was made as comfortable as it could be thanks to the amazing professionals.

The care she received was second to none, we are eternally grateful to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for their fast actions. Nancy was having regular check ups and has now been discharged.

The opportunity to be able to raise money for such a fantastic hospital feels like a great idea.

Now, we want to give something back — to help ensure other families receive the same life-changing care when they need it.
