The whole team at The Shrewsbury Coffeehouse are coming together to run the Shrewsbury 10k in aid of the incredible charity, Hope House! In total there will be 8 of us running.

In the lead up to the race we will be holding fundraising events in the cafe itself where we plan on doing some raffles and donation of profits too!

You can now donate in store too! And from Tuesday onwards you will be able to purchase raffle tickets!

If you have a minute to spare, below is one of the reasons we are running the Shrewsbury 10k for Hope house. These are details of Liv’s gorgeous Niece, Peggy. Written by Beth, Peggy’s incredible mum and Liv’s sister in law who is also tackling the 10k in July:

Peggy was born on 5th January and unfortunately never made it home due to complicated issues linked to breathing and feeding.

A month after Peggy was born we learnt that she had been born with an incredibly rare gene mutation. Peggy was the seventh child in the WORLD to be born with this mutation, giving doctors limited information about how to proceed. Peggy was a little fighter though and defied the odds, surprising doctors for a long time.

Unfortunately at 11 weeks old, the decision was made to start palliative care. Peggy’s brain hadn’t grown since she had been born and her condition was actually deteriorating. From the limited information doctors had, we knew that Peggy was never going to get better.

We got Peggy over to Hope House on 26th March where she passed away peacefully in my arms, just under an hour after being taken off the ventilator. We were sat outside in the sunshine, listening to the birds in the background.

Hope House are the most incredible place, they have supported us in the lead up to palliative care and beyond. 3 families in the local area face losing a child every week and Hope House can only afford to support one of them, we are SO lucky and grateful that we were the 1 in 3.
