Story
From June 9, I will be taking on a 200km+ run over five days along the Southwest Coast Path to raise money for Music Venue Trust and help protect grassroots live music venues across the UK.
The challenge will cover the route from Penzance to Plymouth, the equivalent of five marathons and 7,000 meters of hills.
Why This Matters
Running and live music have both played a huge role in my life. Running has given me space, clarity, and an outlet for my mental health, while live music has provided a sense of belonging and community through both performing and attending gigs.
That connection inspired me to take on this challenge in support of Music Venue Trust, a charity dedicated to protecting the UK’s grassroots music scene. Small venues are the foundation of live music, giving artists, fans, and local communities a place to connect.
With more than half of grassroots venues struggling to remain profitable in 2025, and many independent venues I love (e.g. Lennons & The Talking Heads – Southampton) closing over the past decade, supporting these spaces has never been more important.
The Route
Penzance - Plymouth (Day 1- 45km | Day 2- 53km | Day 3 – 42km | Day 4 – 39km | Day 5 – 42km)
Why the Southwest Coast Path?
It is iconic stretch of UK coastline, with amazing views and rolling hills – no better place to have tired legs!
I love being next to the sea – surfing my first waves in Cornwall (Mawgan Porth, Sennen Cove, Newquay)
Some of my favorite artists are based out of the Southwest
Follow along as I prepare for this challenge!
