Story
Thank you for visiting our page. On Sunday 26th April 2026, Natts, Calum and Tristan are running the London Marathon in memory of Gaz Emmerson.
Gaz's Story
Gaz was our deeply loved son/brother-in-law who passed away in August 2022 from Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare type of bone and soft tissue cancer.
Gaz was first diagnosed with Ewing's aged 21 when a tumour the size of two tennis balls was discovered at the base of his spine. Over the next 8 years, he underwent 48 rounds of chemotherapy and so many rounds of radiotherapy he lost count. He did so with unwavering strength and a wicked sense of humour.
November 2020 marked a turning point for Gaz when he found out the cancer had spread to his brain and his diagnosis became terminal. He immediately decided to focus on something positive; raising as much money and awareness as possible for Sarcoma UK. Gaz decided to do this by cycling 1000 miles from Lands End to John O'Groat's across 12 days in June 2021 whilst on chemotherapy. He raised £140,000 for the charity and went on to win a Pride of Britain Award.
Our involvement with Sarcoma UK
Since Gaz's passing, we have continued to fundraise for Sarcoma UK by way of the Gaz Emmerson Fund that my daughter/the boy's sister Zoe set up in his memory.
After completing the Three Peak's Challenge in 2023, we have now decided to up the ante by taking on the London Marathon this year.
Any donations to this truly worthy cause will be hugely appreciated and help us to continue Gaz's fundraising legacy.
With huge thanks
Natts, Calum and Tris
