WaterAid is an international non-profit with one goal: to change the world through water. Along with decent toilets and good hygiene, a reliable supply of clean water is essential for health, dignity and a life full of opportunity.

Story

This autumn, I walked the Camino Portugués — a 260 km pilgrimage from Porto to Santiago — to raise £1 for every kilometre walked in support of WaterAid.

Now, as the seasons turn, The Wandering Stream flows into winter: a quieter pilgrimage of silence and meditation, continuing the same vow — to walk in service of water, and to help it reach those who need it most.

Over the past year, I’ve been creating The Wandering Stream — a series of contemplative films and reflections from sacred walks around the world. The project began in silence, capturing moments of stillness and natural sound. But along the way, something changed.

I began meeting others on their own pilgrimages — each carrying their own stories of healing, grief, and renewal. Now, The Wandering Stream has become a conversation: a blend of silent imagery, reflective narration, and heartfelt interviews with fellow travellers, all seeking meaning in motion.

Water remains at the heart of it all. It’s what I follow, what I film — and what millions still live without. Every drop of this journey connects us to that shared truth.

So I’m inviting you to walk with me in spirit. Every pound donated supports WaterAid’s mission to bring clean water, decent toilets, and hygiene to communities around the world.

Whether you’re drawn to the silence, the storytelling, or the cause itself — thank you for walking beside me. You can follow along on The Wandering Stream (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok) as we flow onward, one step and one drop at a time.

With gratitude,

James Gloster-Burke
