Kind, charitable, selfless and inspiring are just a few words to describe The Wee PT. Viv dedicated her life to helping other people, and leaded a fundraising campaign of her own for The Beatson Cancer Charity by taking part in physical challenges such as The Kilt Walk and Tough Mudder 2023, unbeknown to anyone that Viv herself was battling cervical cancer at this time. After months of feeling poorly and countless trips to the hospital with no diagnosis, Viv and the family finally got the answer as to why she was so unwell and the devastating diagnosis of terminal cervical cancer shattered our world.

Viv was admitted to The Beatson where she received chemotherapy and fought incredibly hard for as long as she possibly could for her family before heartbreakingly passing away on 18th December 2023.

During Vivienne’s time at The Beatson, in this tragic time she found comfort in the “Wellbeing centre” which is a service offered to patients and their families. It is an escape from reality in a calming space we could go to switch off from hospital machines and the constant reminder of the inevitable. The staff couldn’t do enough for the patients, they were warm, friendly and understanding. In order to make the well being centre as peaceful as possible for the patients, understandably children are not permitted.

We have proposed the idea of making a “family room” within the Beatson where people with young families can go to chill out and play, bringing a bit of normality back into their lives.

We have had a positive update from The Beatson and this family room will be in Vivienne’s memory. Continuing her legacy of helping people.

We will also work towards raising awareness for people to advocate for their own bodies and push for action when you know something isn’t right, nobody knows your body better than you!
