#formyhero…Dad❤️

Hello everyone, my name is Huong. I am 26 years old and I am from Vietnam. The man in this picture is my father. I was born into a family of 6 children. My parents are farmers, they grow rice, some vegetables and raise pigs to feed us. We live in a rather arid land near the sea in Thua Thien Hue province where there is only hot wind and sandy soil. My family is like other families in the area, very poor. Many meals only have vegetables and sweet potatoes, sometimes fancy there will be a few small fish. Although it is hard, my parents still try to send my sisters and I to school. We also help our parents after school. I often go to pick wild vegetables for the pigs, wake up early in the morning to pick vegetables to help my mother bring to the market to sell in exchange for meat. In the evening, my sister and I often go to catch snails, crabs and frogs to sell. The money we earn is not much but we can buy some school supplies. But because of difficult family circumstances, only my sister was able to go to university, the other 5 of us could not go to university. Partly because conditions did not allow it, partly because we did not want our parents to suffer, staying up late and waking up early to earn money for us to study. I also dropped out of school at the age of 14 to go to work. My sister is a kindergarten teacher with a salary of 300€/month, which is just enough for her to cover her daily expenses. We do not have a university degree so we can only do manual labor and do not earn much money. Usually poor people are not lucky, my father got sick. At first it was just small skin ulcers, but because of his working environment, he had to wade in water in the rice fields, and there were a lot of chemicals. Farmers often had to spray pesticides and fertilize the rice. This led to my father's skin condition getting worse. We also tried to buy protective gear so he could protect his skin. but it was too difficult to move, almost impossible to move in the mud. my father suffered from the pain of living with the disease, many times the skin on his body started to crack and bleed, but he still tried because at that time my parents still had to raise 3 young children who were still in school. the hospital also only gave him some topical medicine and antibiotics to take. we had no money and could not get better treatment. then the incident happened in 2022. our house, the house we had lived in for 24 years, caught fire due to an electrical short circuit while my family was going to church. the fire burned down 2/3 of the house. and we could not save it. my parents felt like they died at that moment. all the hard work and blood of so many years was gone in one night. luckily no one was injured. my sisters and I spent all the money we had saved for our parents to rebuild the house. They also had a little money saved for their children in the future and spent it all on the house but it was still not enough to rebuild it. Luckily, everyone in the village, relatives and friends of the family helped us, helping us rebuild the house. However, my parents still owed a little after the construction was completed. After that incident, we were completely penniless. My father's situation is getting worse. Before, every time the disease relapsed, after being injected with anti-inflammatory drugs, he would recover and not relapse for 2-3 months, but now he struggles with the disease almost every month. Once, my father cried when he saw my mother's hair had turned a lot gray and her skin was wrinkled and haggard. He said that if my mother had not come to my father before, her life would have been better and she wouldn't have to work so hard like now. My family is poor and not rich, but I feel happy because everyone loves each other. My father is also a big fan of cats. He loves cats very much and often hugs them to sleep, making my mother jealous and telling my father to ask the cat to cook and do his laundry instead of my mother hehe. I share my story here just hoping that everyone can always be optimistic, happy and love themselves and their families. And I also hope to receive help from you. I hope my father can get better treatment or can help him change to a better job that does not have to be exposed to dirty water and chemicals. We always try to help our parents but our situation is not good and it will probably take a long time to get better. I am just afraid that my parents cannot wait for that. Your support is an opportunity to help my parents have less hardship and live healthier. I pray that everyone in the world, especially parents, is always safe and healthy. Thank you very much for taking the time to read my story. I love you all.
