Story
On Saturday 2nd May, we’ll be spending 24 hours straight inside the gym at Body Tech Winsford. That’s right… No leaving. No sleeping. No idea why we keep doing this to ourselves.
BUT, we’re not just doing this because we lost a bet.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with our story, a few years ago we sadly lost one of our best friends at the age of just 19 years old to suicide. Ever since, it’s been our mission to not only forever remember him, but to open up the conversation around mental health and remove the stigma so that young adults feel comfortable and able to talk. Talking saves lives.
The gym is a place where people go to grow, work on themselves and improve their health; Yet it’s sometimes easy to forget that Physical health & Mental health are two sides of the very same coin.
That’s why we’re incredibly proud partners of Manchester Mind, an independent, local mental health charity who improve the lives of over 11,000 young people and adults each and every year.
So if you can, please donate and help us turn the poor decision to destroy our sleep patterns for the foreseeable, into something infinitely positive.
For the same price as a coffee at your usual spot, stick the kettle on at home and help us make a difference. We really do appreciate your generosity, no matter how big or small a contribution you feel that you’re able to make.
During our challenge, we’ll be taking on 13 specific tasks.
Now ‘13’ has always been a number that divides opinion. However in this case, we’ve specifically chosen 13 because that’s how many men, on average in the UK, tragically take their own life each day.
13 men, every single 24-hours, in just the UK alone. That’s not a stat we’re okay with.
We will also be hosting various competitions and challenges throughout Saturday for everyone to come and get involved in, with prizes up for grabs to the winners.
Expect sweat. Expect questionable energy levels at 3am. Expect at least one person (probably Dan) to rethink their decisions almost the second they touch a dumbbell.
But most importantly — expect a community showing up for something bigger than just reps and PBs.
Whether you’re coming to take part, cheer us on, or just witness the chaos… we’d love to see lots of you there.
LET’S MAKE THOSE 24 HOURS COUNT.
We’ll be sharing the whole thing across our social pages as it unfolds, mainly so you can watch us suffer in real time whilst laughing with (or at) us.
