Story
In the summer 2026, 26 students and 4 staff took part in an World Challenge expedition to Nepal. We loved every minute of it and had a fantastic time in a beautiful country. We worked with The Bimiri Foundation during our time and built 13 taps in total in the village of Cheggin. Ian and the team were very inspirational and passionate and inspired the group to want to continue fundraising for them when we returned from our travels.
In August 2026 we woke up to the devestating news of the flooding in Nepal and although the areas we visited we not effected, one member of the team, Raju, has been heavily impacted losing two family members and his childhood home. This has given our World Challenge team even more motivation for their fundraiser. Having so recently experienced the warmth, generosity and hospitality of the people of Nepal, and returned home with so many wonderful memories and experiences, we feel very strongly that we would like to do something to give back and support the country that gave us so much.
We are running a Doko Challenge and challenging Thirsk School and Sixth Form College with how many litres of water can we carry?!
