Story
In August 2026, we’ll be taking on one of the toughest challenges of our lives - climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa and one of the world’s greatest natural landmarks. Standing at nearly 6,000 metres, it’s a true test of endurance, determination, and teamwork. We’re taking on this challenge to raise money for Amnesty International UK, an organisation that stands up for people everywhere whose basic rights and freedoms are under threat.
As students at the University of Glasgow, we’ve both learned how important it is to turn awareness into action. Amnesty International fights tirelessly for justice, freedom, and equality across the world - supporting those who have been silenced, campaigning for political prisoners, and protecting the rights of individuals facing persecution or violence. Their work saves lives and holds those in power accountable, and we want to play a small part in helping that continue.
Our fundraising target is £7,560, which will go directly towards Amnesty’s human rights work. Every pound raised will help fund investigations, legal representation, and campaigns that make a real difference for people facing injustice.
Between now and the climb, we’ll be organising local events, taking part in community fundraisers, and sharing updates on our training and progress. The trek itself will push us far beyond our comfort zones - through altitude sickness, exhaustion, and unpredictable weather - but we’re determined to make it to the summit knowing it’s all for such an important cause.
If you’re able to contribute, no matter how small, your support means the world to us. Together we can help Amnesty continue their vital mission to defend human rights, challenge oppression, and create lasting change around the world. Thank you so much for supporting us on this journey - every step we take up that mountain will be for something far bigger than ourselves.
