A charity set up to support people with Parkinson’s, who want to improve their quality of life, by taking part in sports or creative arts activities. We’re on a mission to make life more positive, manageable, and meaningful for people with Parkinson.

Story

I’m Tom. My friend Ray got Parkinson’s when he was just 39. He founded a charity, Quality In Parkinson’s, to help others with the condition, and invited me to join him as a trustee.

It was an easy yes from me!

Our charity funds projects and initiatives to improve the quality of life for people with Parkinson's - anything from dance classes to art therapy.

Movement helps us all, and it’s especially helpful for people with Parkinson’s. It eases some of their physical stiffness, boosts wellbeing and connection with others, and helps maintain a sense of purpose and identity in their lives.

I’ve always been a keen walker and had a dream of walking the entire coastline of England, all 5000 miles of it!

I teach maths at Aston University and don’t have the time to complete the challenge in one go. So, I came up with the idea of dividing it into separate legs to complete during the annual summer academic break.

And that’s what I’ve been squirrelling away at since 2014! So far I've walked from Edinburgh to Dover to Land's End to Bude.

This year will see me venture from Bude to the Mumbles (near Swansea), covering around 250 miles over a two-week period in early September.

I’m raising awareness and money during my challenge to spread the word about the benefits of movement to help people with Parkinson’s, as well as helping to fund more of our work.

Thanks for stopping by - I really appreciate your support. Please share my story on social media and I'd love it if you can make a small monetary donation.

Wish me luck!
