Story
It's impossible to live on this earth without witnessing it or it happening to our loved ones or ourselves- cancer is all around us. The statistics are frightening with 1 in 2 people said to experience it themselves at some point in their lives. I'm lucky to be able to say my partner is alive and healthy after having overcome cancer as a young woman in her 30s, however it was far from easy to get to where she is today.
After a few initial operations we had the news that the cancer had spread and then heavier treatment was needed such as chemotherapy and different types of radiation therapy. There are severe lifelong consequences to this kind of treatment and we've had a lot of adjusting to do with many of the painful times happening years after the treatment itself.
Throughout the years of Lisa's treatments and check ups, the team at the hospital has never been anything short of amazing. We always felt very well supported and guided throughout the process and six years later, that is still the case.
We cannot thank them enough.
The process was brutal and I was only able to stand by and watch. So to get involved in a way that I can, I've signed up for a Muay Thai fight (The White Collar Fight Club -11th November 2023) to raise money for this cause that's so close to my heart. The Royal Marsden Hospital specifically treats patients with a cancer diagnosis.
The money raised is solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. They ensure that nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world.
From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, they never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
I kindly implore you to find it in your heart to donate any amount you can, no amount is too little and all amounts are greatly appreciated. Help me reach and beat my target!
Much love,
Thomas
