Tom's fundraiser for Cancer Research UK

Edinburgh Marathon 2024 · 26 May 2024 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'm not very good at writing these things but wanted to give some background into the reason why I am running this marathon and why Cancer Research is my chosen charity.
On 20th March 2022 after a courageous 13 year fight with an inoperable brain tumour we sadly lost Kevin to this horrible disease. He was the most genuine, funny and caring person anyone could meet and his strength of character and bravery were unmatched. Oh, and he was also bonkers... but in a good way of course!
Kevin brought laughter and mayhem wherever he went and even after his diagnosis, he continued to be the life and soul of any room he entered. His craziness is stuff of legends and though he is sadly no longer with us the memories we have of him are priceless and he will never be forgotten.
I had the privilege on knowing Kevin his whole life and our small group of friends became and remain a family. Every day we miss him and it still seems unreal that he's gone, the world definitely seems a much quieter place without him.
Throughout his illness Kevin raised thousands of pounds for various cancer charities and I hope that by running this marathon I can also contribute in some small way.
Helping take research a step closer to finding a cure for an illness that has impacted us all in one way or another. If not yet a cure, then at least a chance of progress towards one, allowing for precious extra time with loved ones.
Kevin, you will live in our hearts and memories forever.
Thanks all.....all I need to do now is run the marathon!
