Story

Me and my dad (Mark Hamilton) are doing a skydive to raise money for the Kinder Appeal – supporting the Children’s Renal and Dialysis Unit at Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre.

Back in July 2023, when I was just 14, I was suddenly diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure caused by a very rare autoimmune disease (anti-GBM and ANCA+ vasculitis). Within days of being admitted to hospital, I began dialysis treatment. After 14 months on dialysis, my dad was able to donate one of his kidneys to me. Since the transplant, my health has improved dramatically, and life has started to feel more “normal” again.

Since setting up this page, my health has continued to get even better – and this summer I proudly competed in the 2025 British Transplant Games, where I won gold in the 100 metres! 🥇 It was an incredible experience to meet other transplant patients and celebrate what organ donation can make possible.

I’m really excited for the skydive... Dad, not so much 😅 – but we’re both determined because it’s for such a special cause.

The money raised will Support children and families living with kidney disease, Provide extra resources and fund residential holidays for children on dialysis, Help children and young people at Nottingham Childrens Hospital attend the British Transplant Games.

Every single donation helps, whether big or small and if you can share this page too, it would mean the world to us. Thank you so much for supporting a cause that has made my journey with Kidney failure and little bit easier.
