Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

At the end of April I am going to be tackling the greatest marathon in the world again: London. I was supposed to do it last year but then our son Jude was born two days before which I think is a pretty legitimate excuse to have deferred. You might assume this means I’ve done an extra year of training; you would be very wrong. However despite having my hands far too full with two small children and a pretty (very) busy job (and thankfully a very understanding and supportive wife), I’ve started stepping it up over the last few weeks and so far things have been going relatively okay - touch wood, pray for me, bless my knees etc etc. This will be my 8th - and probably final - marathon, and with a fair wind I’d love to beat my current best of 3hr 37. I’d obviously LOVE to crack 3hr 30 as that’s always been a goal for me, but realistically it will take unprecedented levels of fair wind to even get close.

But for something far more important and motivating than hitting an ultimately pretty meaningless time, I’m going to be running to raise money for a cause that is painfully close to my heart: Dementia UK. In 2019 my Grandad Dave - one of the kindest, funniest, greatest men you’d ever meet - died after suffering from vascular dementia. Dementia is such a cruel condition that impacts thousands of families across the country every year. Whilst there is no cure, I’m running in memory of my Grandad and any money I raise will go towards supporting people with dementia and their loved ones. So thank you for any sponsorship you can send my way - it really does mean a lot and will make a big difference.
