When lives are shattered by a life-changing injury Day One Trauma Support is there to help piece them back together. We are the only national charity to provide personalised care to anyone affected by a catastrophic injury of any kind, their loved ones and their families – for as long it takes.

Story

I am part of a team from JMW jumping out of a plane on 22 June to raise much needed funds for Day One Trauma - Previous funding page closed having raised £680 (thanks to those who donated so far!) previous link:

DAY ONE TRAUMA

There are around 20,000 major trauma cases in England and Wales every year and the average age of patients is just under 40 years old. Sadly around 16,000 people in England and Wales die every year following injury (according to the Trauma Audit and Research Network, 2021).

There is a 40 per cent increased chance of mental health difficulties following major traumatic injury, with 70 in every 100,000 patients taking their own life. Patients who receive care outside the area where they live are more at risk from depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Day One Trauma Support provides access to a range of practical and emotional support services which can help people who have suffered a major traumatic injury to navigate the challenges that they are likely to face.

They are also there for family members and carers when they need help.

WHAT YOUR SPONSORSHIP WILL MEAN

Your support helps people to to rebuild their lives. Day One don’t receive any government funding and rely on the generosity of people like you to help the charity be by the side of major trauma patients and their families, from day one. Your kindness helps give patients and families the support they need, for as long as they need it.

WHY A SKYDIVE

I've always liked adventure sports and jumping out of a plane and taking in the view of the earth from 2 miles up whilst freefalling at somewhere between 110 and 130 miles per hour is something I've always wanted to do and can't wait!

EXTRA CHALLENGE

One snag, I need to be less than a certain weight (15 stone) to take part so I'm putting in the training to ensure I can make the leap and help this amazing charity - 42 lbs to loose to be able to jump! Seems only fair I put in the hard yards for your support and sponsorship

THANK YOU
