24 HOURS of pen y fan

Thomas Powell is raising money for LLYS NINI ANIMAL CENTRE

24 hours of pen y fan · 22 September 2025

The branch is an independently run charity based in South Wales. It is a self-financing organisation committed to providing animal welfare services in its area. The Branch is affiliated to the national RSPCA, but receives no automatic funding from it. This means that the £800,000 annual running costs of the Branch must be entirely met from fundraising activities.

Story

I’m taking on Pen y Fan for 24 hours to raise money for Llys Nini Animal Rescue Centre!

On Monday the 22nd of September I’ll be challenging myself to complete as many ascents of Pen y Fan as possible in a single 24-hour period.

My goal is a minimum of 12 climbs which is over 9,000m of elevation (higher than Mount Everest to put in perspective) and around 48 miles / 79kilometres of mountain terrain.

I’m doing this to raise vital funds for Llys Nini Animal Rescue Centre, who work tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome abandoned, neglected, and unwanted animals across South Wales. Every penny raised will go directly to helping the animals in their care, giving them the second chance they deserve.

Please support me with a donation – big or small – and help me reach my target for the animals of Llys Nini.
