Story
Nick Rule 1958 - 2023
Nick was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2021 and continued to lead a full life despite his diagnosis.
Unfortunately, the disease got too much for Nick landing him paralysed and in hospital from September of this year. Nick's case was rapidly picked up by the team at St. Wilfrid's Hospice and he was transferred by ambulance to their facility in Bosham in early October.
Nick spent roughly 6 weeks in their care receiving some outstanding physiotherapy and occupational therapy in addition to the round-the-clock nursing care he now required.
During his stay Nick learnt that the hospice is funded almost completely by charitable donations and the NHS contributed less than £15 a day towards his stay.
During this time the hospice was also able to provide some invaluable time and space for Nicks's children (Tom and Leanne) to be with him as his illness continued to progress.
Nick vocalised some wishes before he passed away, including to please ask for donations towards this charity at his funeral rather than flowers or gifts.
