Thomas's 10 for 10 Challenge for the Royal British Legion (skegness branch)
10 km • 10 kg • 10 am • 10/10/2026
Hi, I'm Thomas.
I'm 17, a student at Skegness Academy Sixth Form, a Cadet Warrant Officer with 1073 Skegness Air Cadets, and I volunteer with my local Royal British Legion branch selling poppies.
On Saturday 10 October 2026, I'm taking on a challenge of my own to raise money for the Skegness Royal British Legion branch

.
I've called it 10 for 10:
10 km
10 kg
10 am
10/10/2026
I'll start and finish at the Royal British Legion Poppy Shop in Skegness.
Along the route, I'll stop at the Burma Star memorial plaque and the Skegness War Memorial Cenotaph to pay my respects.
These memorials have a personal meaning to me. My great-grandfather served in Burma during the Second World War, and I also have civilian members of my family named on the Skegness Cenotaph.
I come from a military family and, through my role in the Air Cadets and my volunteering with the Royal British Legion, remembering those who served and supporting the Armed Forces community is something that means a lot to me.
I'm also autistic and have Tourette syndrome, so this will be a genuine personal challenge for me. I'm choosing to push myself because this is a cause I care about.
The 10 kg challenge
The 10 kg I'll be carrying won't just be there to make the walk harder.
I'll be carrying 10 kg of food, which will be donated to Storehouse after I complete the challenge.
I wanted my challenge to do something for my local community as well as raise money for the Royal British Legion.
Where your support goes
Money raised through this challenge will support the Royal British Legion, helping them continue supporting serving and ex-serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans and their families.
The RBL provides support in many different ways, including practical and financial assistance, advice and support for veterans and their families, and helping people who have served to get the support they need.
Supporting the challenge
I'm really grateful to the Skegness Royal British Legion branch for getting behind my idea and supporting me.
They are designing and producing a special T-shirt and flag for the challenge, and helping to promote the event.
I'll be walking with support from my family and hopefully be joined along the route by some local veterans, which would make the day particularly special for me.
Please support me
If you can make a donation, no matter how big or small, I'd be incredibly grateful.
If you can't donate, sharing this page would mean just as much. Every share could help us reach more people and raise more money for the Royal British Legion.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my challenge and for supporting me.
10 km. 10 kg. 10 am. 10/10/2026.
My challenge. Their legacy. Our community.
