Paula and Beth’s 10k for Battle Scars

Bethany Thomson is raising money for Battle Scars

Sunderland City 10k · 17 May 2026

Our vision is to make sure nobody who struggles with self-harm, in whichever form, fights alone, and to break down the stigma surrounding self-harm. Our definition of self-harm is broad: any harm done to the body or mind, external or internal, with short or long-term effect.

Story

We’re running the Sunderland City 10k in May to raise money for Battle Scars. Battle Scars is a charity that supports anyone affected by self-harm. They offer a range of services including peer support groups, workbooks and training for professionals. Having used Battle Scars as both a volunteer and service user, I’ve seen first hand the huge impact it has when someone finally finds a safe space where everyone just gets it. I struggled in secret with self-harm for a long time. But at Battle Scars I know I can always be myself and be accepted.

All donations are greatly appreciated and even just sharing the link helps us too.
