Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for Bowel Research UK!

I'm running the London Marathon 2026* to fundraise for Bowel Research UK!

*Third time is the charm!

I've been battling Crohn's disease since 2005, which eventually caused my kidneys to fail, requiring me to have a kidney transplant. This pushed me to do something with real impact. This is why I'm running for Bowel Research UK, to raise funds for crucial research.

Check out a video of my very (!) personal story here.

Bowel disease and bowel cancer is a growing threat. 16,000 people die from bowel cancer each year in the UK, and the numbers are increasing at an alarming rate. More than 1 million suffer from bowel disease in the UK. By supporting Bowel Research UK, you're funding research that tackles bowel disease head-on.

Bowel Research UK's funds research into potential cures for bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease and other bowel disorders. BRUK focuses on early-grant research and hard-to-fund projects otherwise struggling for conventional backing, such as studying experiences of inflammatory bowel disease among BME patients.

For more info on the research you'd be helping, see the BRUK site.

How You Can Make a Difference

Please consider donating, it would really mean a lot! For exanple, you may donate 26 GBP (one pound for each mile!) or 42 GBP (one for each km!).

Thank you so much in advance for your support!

Sincerely,

Thor

** Due to ongoing illness I was unable to run the 2025 London marathon, but will be running the marathon on 26 April 2026 instead. Thank you for your patience through this illness-fuelled journey!

* To All Donors, I'm sorry to say that I developed greater trochanteric pain syndrome during my training for the 2024 London Marathon.

As a result, my physiotherapist ordered me to defer to next year's marathon (2024) to avoid causing trauma or chronic damage to the hip. I'm very sorry about these news but I have to listen to my body. I'll be working on mobility, strength, and sub 10k distances to get ready for next year's race. .

Thank you very much for your donations thus far.

Sincerely,

Thor
