Story
Hi, I'm Alex, I’m a bookkeeper at Thorne Widgery and I’m taking on an 8-mile trek across the Black Mountains to raise money for Mind.
This challenge will take me across Black Hill, also known as The Cat’s Back because of its distinctive ridge that looks like a hunched, sitting cat. The route follows the border between England and Wales, with steep climbs, exposed ridges, rocky sections and plenty of wind to keep us on our toes. It’s going to be a tough but rewarding challenge, with some incredible views across the countryside along the way.
I’m proud to be representing Thorne Widgery and raising money for such an important cause, which is deeply personal to me. I’ve lived with mental health challenges since my early teens, and I know how isolating and overwhelming it can feel when help isn’t accessible or stigma prevents you from reaching out. This is one way for me to give back- to honour the progress I’ve made, support services that can help people who are struggling with their mental health, and help ensure others can find timely, compassionate care.
Any donation, big or small, would mean a lot and will help support Mind’s vital work.
Thank you for your support!
