Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

In February 2022 our world was turned upside down when suddenly and without any warning we lost our dear friend Adam Dearnley to an unknown cardiac problem.

C.R.Y (Cardiac Risk in the Young) have supported us and Adam's family following his passing. They do vital work supporting families and friends going through similar losses, along with increasing awareness and funding screening to help reduce the occurrence of incidents like this.

It has taken many months for us to begin to come to terms with our loss, but we are now ready to take action and hopefully make a difference.

With his family's blessing, we will be tackling the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales back-to-back, and hopefully within 24 hours in his memory. The hikes will see us hiking a total of 23 miles and a total ascent of 3064m (10,000+ ft).

Adam was a passionate advocate for the outdoors, so this seems like the perfect challenge to raise some vital funds for CRY in his memory. We would really appreciate if you could spare a few quid for this fantastic cause, and to help motivate us to get up the mountains. I realise that times are hard, so if you’re unable to donate, hitting the share button would be a great alternative!

Many thanks,

Jordan, Luke & Tom
