Three Peaks Challenge · 24 May 2025

The Lady Garden Foundation is revolutionising women's gynaecological health. We raise awareness and funding to improve prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the five gynaecological cancers (Ovarian, Cervical, Vulval, Vaginal, Womb(Uterine)).

Story

On 24th May we are attempting to complete the mighty Three Peaks Challenge - that's 23 miles of walking, 3064 metres of ascending and 462 miles of driving, all in 24 hours. We'll start at Ben Nevis, then make our way down to Scafell Pike before finally finishing at Snowdon.

Why? In honour of our dear friend Emily Plane who passed away in November 2023 after a five-year fight with ovarian cancer.

Em had been struggling to identify the source of her pain for a year until she was diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer aged just 23 in early January 2019. The battle that Em faced was gruelling, enduring countless rounds of chemo, operations and procedures. The mental and physical toll was unbearable but somehow she still made us laugh and even managed a few odd nights out in between.

After receiving the all clear from the amazing team at the Royal Marsden Hospital following her first round of chemo, the cancer returned in the summer of 2020. Her bravery and strength over the next three years was nothing short of extraordinary. In November 2023, our beloved Emily passed away surrounded by her closest family and friends. We miss her every single day. Please read more about her story here:

Despite all the difficulties cancer threw at Em, she remained someone who constantly thought of others, dedicating much of her time during her illness to raising money and awareness for the five gynaecological cancers through the Lady Garden Foundation.

The Lady Garden Foundation is an incredible organisation that helps to fund research to drastically reduce the diagnoses and devastating outcomes of gynaecological cancers and gynaecological health issues for women everywhere.

For five girls who have very little climbing experience, this will be a huge challenge for us, but just the thought of Emily will be our motivator. It would've been her worst nightmare to climb three mountains in 24 hours - she was more of a drink rose and eat Mars Bar ice creams whilst watching sport kinda gal - but she would undoubtedly be the first person to scoop us up at the bottom of the mountain, sweets and sausage rolls in hand, and chauffeur us down the motorway in her dream whip (a white Range Rover Sport) to our next destination, breaking the speed limit all the way, blasting out UK Top 40 and giving us her expert running commentary on passing number plates, cars and service stations.

It'll be tough but this one's for you Em. We love you so much.

We hope you will join us in giving anything you can to the Lady Garden Foundation and continuing to support the cause that Em fought so strongly for.
