The Yorkshire Three Peaks in Memory of Rosie

Alastair Humphreys is raising money for The Police Children's Charity
In memory of Rosie Prior

Yorkshire Three Peaks · 12 August 2025

The death of a parent, at any age, changes life forever and has devastating emotional impact on top of which there may well be financial implications for the family and the bereaved children. The Trust can't replace a parent but can give financial support and take away at least one burden of worry.

Story

Rosie was our fun, lively, energetic, loud, and loving Aunt. She enjoyed launching herself into big challenges.

Rosie was also a Police Officer, and tragically she died in January after stopping to help at a traffic accident. She had stopped her car in a safe place, and was off the road when she went to help the family who had crashed. Whilst on the hard shoulder she was hit by a lorry, and killed.

All our family has decided to come together and tackle the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in order to celebrate Rosie's life, try our best at a challenge she would be proud of, and hopefully to raise money for the Police Children's Charity, which will help support Rosie's sons (our cousins) until they are 25.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is a 24-mile trek that includes over 1500m of ascent. It's going to be hard. It takes on the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres), and you have to try to finish in under 12 hours. Hopefully we will make it round them all, but we will definitely try our best – Rosie would insist on that!

Knowing that we will be raising money for this worthwhile challenge will motivate us to keep going when our feet are hurting and the sun is beating down (or rain lashing down!)...

Thank you for any support you are able to give.
