Richie was a Repton legend who spent the last c20 years of his life helping generations of young footballers improve both their skills and their love of the game. Given his incredible career, he was adept at helping the most talented footballers and teams better themselves. He will, however, be just as fondly remembered for his work with players who perhaps found football more of a challenge. His wealth of knowledge and passion for both the game and helping people meant that every session he took was relished by the players in his care and the coaches he worked with. He was simply one of the nicest and most informed people you could ever wish to meet.

Before he passed away, the School House Upper 6th explained that they were planning on climbing the three peaks of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon at the end of March. We explained that we wanted to do it for a charity close to Richie’s heart and he chose Burton Hope. We therefore want to raise as much money as possible for this fantastic local charity to, in some small way, say thank you to Richie for everything he did for us.
