Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page.

We would firstly like to introduce ourselves, our names are Gary Davidson Jnr and Stephen Hider. two longstanding friends that are hoping to achieve what some people will think is unachievable.

On April 11th we are setting on from Fort William, Scotland to start our journey where we will be aiming to complete the National Three Peaks Challenge, on foot and self-supported.

This challenge will push our bodies to the limit as we climb and run some 450 miles or so from Scotland, via England to Wales and scales the UK's three tallest peaks.

Our journey will start at the foot of Scotland's and the UK's tallest mountain the mighty Ben Nevis! Standing at 1345 metres. From the foot we will climb the mountain and return to base before running to England and the base of Scafell Pike, standing at 978 metres. Again we will climb the mountain and return to base then starting our to run to Wales! When we arrive at the base of Mount Snowdon in. Wales, we will again scale the 1085 metre peak and return to its base before our final run to the visitors centre and the completion of the Three Peaks Challenge, self-supported on foot. Hopefully there will be some of our friends and family at the foot of Snowdon ready to cheer us on to the finish.

We have decided to support a charity that is close to our hearts, The British Heart Foundation (BHF).

Stephen's connection is with his niece, in 2009 Stephen's nice Isla-rose was born with Dilated Cardiomyopathy, Isla-rose was given just 24 hours to live, but with thanks to the many doctors and her true strength to fight Isla-rose continued on. Sadly Isla-rose passed away on the 16th of December in 2009 but she had fought on for 269 that was 268 days longer than the doctors predicted.

Every day we shared with Isla-rose was a gift that we are forever grateful of.

Gary's connection is with the older generation. His grandad Len sadly passed away following on from multiple strokes, his Nanny Colleen currently suffers from Cardiovascular disease. Gary has a strong family history of high Cholesterol.
