Three Shires Hospital fundraiser for OurJay Foundation

Leah Goode is raising money for OurJay Foundation
Set up in memory of our Jamie, who we lost to a cardiac arrest in January 2022, aged just 18. The nearest defibrillator to Jamie, on the night he collapsed, was devastatingly locked inside a school and was not accessible to the people trying desperately to save his life. An ambulance took 18 minutes

OurJay Foundation

During the early hours of New Year's Day 2022, Jamie - a beloved brother, son, and friend - went into cardiac arrest. At the time, he was at a friend's house watching the fireworks when he suddenly collapsed. His friend immediately called an ambulance and began performing CPR.

Tragically, the only defibrillator nearby was locked inside a building, rendering it useless at a time when Jamie needed it most. The first emergency vehicle to arrive was a police car; however, it did not carry a defibrillator. Jamie endured a catastrophic wait of 17 minutes and 20 seconds for an ambulance to arrive. Although paramedics were able to restart his heart, the prolonged lack of oxygen to his brain meant his family had to say their final goodbyes on January 5, 2022.

Since the age of 16, Jamie signed the organ donor register three times. His selfless decision went on to save the lives of five people in need of life-saving transplants - one of whom was an 8-month-old girl who urgently required a part liver transplant.
