Story
My name is Thubelihle Ncube, and I was born in Wanezi, a small rural area in Matabeleland, Zimbabwe. Currently residing Dubai, UAE, carrying the spirit of resilience, hope, and determination that has shaped my life.
I come from a place where dreams are often limited by circumstances, yet I refused to let my beginnings define my destiny. Growing up in rural Zimbabwe, I learned the value of perseverance early.
But beyond personal achievement, I want my attempt at this ( 10km walking lunges ) Guinness World Record to serve a greater purpose. I am dedicating this journey to Lesedi Schools and Clinics, a charity in rural Zimbabwe that provides education, food, and medical care to those in need. Their work depends solely on donations, and I want my effort to be a call to action—proof that no contribution is too small, no effort insignificant. If my record attempt can bring awareness, inspire giving, and change even one life, then every step, every lunge, and every ounce of pain will be worth it.
Ubuntu—an African philosophy meaning “I am because we are”—is the heartbeat of this journey. I do not stand here alone. I carry with me the dreams of every young girl who dares to dream beyond her circumstances, the hopes of those who refuse to be defined by their limitations, and the power of a community that believes in something greater than individual success.
We give not because we have because we know what it’s like not to.. while I might not make it to GWR ( too ambitious maybe .. I hope the little we are able to raise goes a long way), consider sponsoring a child for just 350$ a year.
