Story
Thurrock Young Carers supports Young Carers aged 8–18 who care for someone in their family with a long term illness, disability, mental health condition or drug and alcohol misuse. Whether you care for your mum, dad, brother, sister or grandparent, we are here to provide help & support when you need it.
Being a Young Carer can often mean taking on significant responsibilities at home while balancing school, friendships, and personal wellbeing. Many Young Carers put the needs of others before their own and can miss out on opportunities that other young people take for granted.
Our project provides a range of support services designed to help Young Carers thrive. This includes one-to-one support, group activities, respite opportunities, educational support, life skills development, and the chance to connect with other Young Carers who understand their experiences. We strive to ensure that Young Carers are recognised, listened to, and given the support they need to reach their full potential.
As Lakeside Shopping Centre’s Charity Partner of the Year, we are delighted to raise awareness of the vital role Young Carers play within their families and communities. Through fundraising, community engagement, and partnership working, we aim to create brighter futures for Young Carers across Thurrock.
Every donation and show of support helps us continue providing essential services and opportunities for local Young Carers, ensuring they have the chance to enjoy their childhood, achieve their goals, access vital support such as counselling and know they are not alone.
