Story
Hi everyone,
If you’re reading this, it means I’ve signed up to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon. I’ve been quietly training for the past few weeks, and it’s too late to pretend this was just a “casual idea”.
I’m running for Refugee Action, and while I don’t love running, this cause is the reason I’m sticking with it.
Right now in the UK, there’s a lot of negativity around refugees and people seeking asylum. It’s easy to forget what that word actually means. It means being forced to leave your home, your job, your friends, your language , everything familiar, often overnight. It means starting again somewhere new, not because you want to, but because you have no other choice.
Refugee Action supports people at that exact moment, helping with things like housing advice, legal support, and basic essentials so people can begin to rebuild their lives with some dignity and stability. It’s practical, human help, and it really matters.
My training so far has involved sore legs, strategic stretching, dramatic complaining, and the realisation that 13.1 miles is a lot longer than it sounds. But this is a very small challenge compared to being forced to leave everything you know behind. If I can put myself through this and raise some money to support people facing that reality, then it’s absolutely worth it.
Any donation, no matter the size, would mean the world to me, not just as motivation to keep me going through the training, but because it helps Refugee Action continue their vital work at a time when it’s really needed.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support ❤️
