I am a Break Leader at children’s charity Go Beyond (formerly CHICKS). We provide children and young people aged 8-15 who face serious challenges in their home lives with breaks that last a lifetime. The young people we support are referred to us due to facing difficulties in their home lives, this could be bullying, poor mental health, abuse, bereavement, poverty, and caring responsibilities. The aim of the break is to provide them with the opportunity to try new things and challenge themselves in a safe and supportive environment, whilst giving them the opportunity to make positive friendships and just be a kid again. We support young people from all over the UK, in 2022 we supported over 750 young people, with an aim for 1,000 this year. 

If I'm going to ask these young people to push themselves outside of their comfort zones and challenge themselves... well I'm going to do it as well! By jumping out of a plane from 10,000ft up in the air! This is definitely a crazy thing for me to do but Go Beyond is a charity that is absolutely worth jumping out of a plane for! We have had lots of great feedback from the young people who have been on our residential breaks, I want to be able to support Go Beyond in providing opportunities for more vulnerable young people.
