Story

Next up on my challenge list: something brutal and close to home.

This October, I’ve been invited to take on the Sandals Foundation Island Challenge in Saint Lucia (and no, it’s not your average 5* island getaway).

I’ll be doing it with my close friend Sean, who I met 10 years ago working at a kids’ camp in the US. We’ve been challenging each other ever since, and this one might just top the lot. We’ll be pushing ourselves through rainforest treks, ocean kayaking, high-altitude hikes and long-distance runs… all in the 30-degree Caribbean heat. Over four days, we’ll cover more than 75km across the island; including a half marathon, two 12K runs, 20K of kayaking and climbing the iconic Gros Piton volcano.

We’ve always shared a love for testing our limits (could've already guessed, we’ve tackled a few Hyrox's too), but more importantly, we’re both passionate about helping young people live healthier, happier lives. This time, it’s for a cause that really hits home.

For those who know me well, you’ll understand why this challenge is so personal. My younger brother died at birth, a heartbreaking experience that shaped my family forever. In the UK, we were fortunate to have access to world-class care and support. But that’s not the case everywhere.

We’re taking on this challenge to help the Sandals Foundation raise £100,000 to strengthen Saint Lucia’s paediatric services. The money will fund life-saving equipment for the Special Care Baby Unit at the Millennium Medical Complex - a unit that treats around 180 critically ill babies each year and gives hope to families during their toughest moments.

It’s a real privilege to be part of this mission, one that’s about more than endurance. It’s about giving back and impact. And in memory of our Daniel too.

If you’re able to support, any donation big or small, would genuinely mean a lot.
