Group B Streptococcus is the UK's most common cause of life-threatening infection in newborn babies and of meningitis in babies under age 3 months.

On average in the UK, at least

-two babies a day develop a group B Strep infection

-one baby a week dies from their GBS infection, and

-one baby a week survives with long-term disabilities – physical, mental or both.

Yet most group B Strep infections are preventable. Group B Strep Support informs families & health professionals about group B Strep to save tiny lives.

Unfortunately back in June 2023, my own little girl contracted Group B Strep at birth. We had an extremely traumatic time and spent our first moments in intensive care, it really was heartbreaking. Thankfully, she was strong enough to fight this awful infection and has made a full recovery. She’s now a healthy, thriving, beautiful little girl and I thank my lucky stars every single day. However some poor babies aren’t this lucky and I will do my upmost to fundraise for this wonderful charity until Group B strep is tested for in every pregnant mum on the NHS.
