UPDATE - APRIL 2025

After everyone’s generosity in the Autumn of last year when I walked the Camino, I was able to raise nearly £6,000 for the British Heart Foundation. This was in memory of my Dad, Nick, who we lost very suddenly to a heart attack in February 2022.

On the back of this, the BHF offered me the chance to run this year’s London Marathon which I have stupidly accepted. For the past 3 months, I have been training and am now looking forward to completing another challenge on behalf of the charity.

As you were all so generous last year, I was reluctant to ask for any further donations, however if anyone is able to, it would help me raise further vital funds for the charity.

Anything that you can spare, however small or large would be so greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim

AUTUMN 2024

As many of you will know, in February 2022, I lost my Dad, Nick, very suddenly to a heart attack.

Dad was active and healthy, without any medical concerns so we had absolutely no idea what was coming until that evening. Despite best efforts from myself, my Mum and the paramedics, we were unable to save him, and he tragically passed away. Nick was a popular and well-known figure in the local community thanks to his 30+ year teaching career at Hamble School and many years both playing and coaching cricket in Hampshire. He was also the best Dad and like a best friend to me. He has been missed every day since he left us.

Around 20 people every single day pass away as a result of heart attacks, something I was unaware of until it happened to Dad. Since his passing, I have wanted to do something in his memory and raise much needed funds for a charity that helps to prevent losses like this for other families. The British Heart Foundation exists as heart and circulatory diseases are the world’s biggest killers. They fund research to help find treatments and cures that could save lives.

My employers have kindly agreed for me to take some extended leave this year and at the beginning of September, I will be taking on the Camino Frances. This will involve walking the 900 kilometres from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in the South-West of France to Santiago de Compostela in North-West Spain. I will be walking around 30km a day consecutively for over 5 weeks starting by crossing the French Pyrenees, travelling through Pamplona, Burgos and Leon before (hopefully!) reaching the end in Santiago de Compostela in October.

Any donation that you can spare, however small or large would be so greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim
