Story
Were you ever a member of the 1st Meols Boys' Brigade ? Did you have siblings or parents or a son in the !st Meols BB? Then read on, as this message is directed at you !
Recently, ex members of the 1st Meols Boys' Brigade Company (which was in existence from c1960 to 1990 and based at St.Andrews' United Reformed Church in Meols, Wirral ) held their first official reunion in the form of a fish supper held in in the church hall. The attendees, many of whom had not seen each other in over 45-50 years, were privileged to listen to ex member Tim Fawcitt, 62 years, and now living in the Chepstow area, who told us in a moving way about his involvement in supporting Ukraine.
Tim and his lifelong friend and fellow ex member, Richard Ince, got together at the start of the war and began raising enough funds to buy an old pick up truck and drive it to the Ukraine and hand it over to their people. This was intended as a one off trip but at the time of writing Tim has now done this a further 10 times !
To date , the group that he has been involved with , Noxaid, have raised funds to buy over 100 assorted used pick up trucks, fire engines, ambulances and refrigerated trucks , and then driven them to the Ukraine, for which the Ukranian people are truly grateful. Some vehicles last just a few weeks, others much longer.
So, in collaboration with Dragon Oxford Aid and Noxaid, we are looking to buy a couple of used pick up trucks or small fire tenders to send over to the people of Ukraine and which wil be driven there by ex members of !st Meols BB. This will be in memory of our leader and Captain, Geoff Bratt, who gave so much time and dedication to the 1st Meols BB.
Whilst we celebrate and enjoy the festivities of Xmas 2025 here in the UK, please have a long think about the plight of the Ukranian people , and if you can , give a donation to support this cause.
Thanks,
Tim Baldock , pp all ex members of 1st Meols BB.
